2019 Chardonnay Russian River Valley

PRODUCTION NOTES

The spring of 2019 was an exceptionally wet one with 20 days of rain in just the month of May. This helped limit fruit set and meant that the 2019 crop was much smaller than the massive 2018 Harvest. After the very rainy spring things settled down, and the rest of the growing season was ideal. The lack of late season rains or heat spikes meant that we were able to harvest without any drama. The fruit quality in 2019 was excellent.

Russian River Valley Chardonnay comes from three of the top vineyards in Sonoma County. Great vineyards sites, when well-farmed, produce excellent fruit year after year. Our Platt Vineyard, all the way out at the coast in Bodega, produces a spectacular Grand Cru Chablis style of wine vintage after vintage.

TASTING NOTES

Our 2019 Flanagan Chardonnay RRV is primarily a blend of the Bacigalupi Vineyard and the younger vine vinification from Ritchie Vineyard. We included a small amount of Platt Vineyard fruit and that provides a thrilling lift to the acidity in the wine.

The nose shows notes of Citrus Blossom, jasmine, and Herbs de Provence. On the palate the wine has Key Lime, Limestone, and toasted almond. The wine has a very fresh acidity and an elegant minerality.

This is a brilliant example ofChardonnay, made in a balanced fashion, from the top vineyards in Sonoma County.
