Our Flanagan Wines Story
Flanagan Wines was born out of my love for wine. I visited wine growing regions around the world from New Zealand to Greece. I was fascinated by how the changes in soils and climate created different styles of wine from same grape variety. This led to an interest in vineyard sites and to a focus on the soils and the climates that made each unique.
In 1999 I purchased 40 acres on the heights of Bennett Mountain and, in 2001, Riley and I planted our first grapevine. In 2016 we purchased a great winery and vineyard site just outside Healdsburg. We redeveloped the vineyards, and moved all of our production to our new winery. We now produce wines from several of the most highly regarded vineyards in Sonoma County including Ritchie, Bacigalupi, River Road Grape Farm, Gap’s View, and our fantastic Estate Cabernet Vineyard. Flanagan Wines is known for making great wines from the best vineyards in Sonoma County.
Eric and Kit Flanagan make their home in Healdsburg, CA, about a mile from the winery. Their oldest daughter and business partner, Riley, runs wholesale sales and hosts tasting events around the country. Their middle daughter, Lola, works for Epic and lives in Madison, WI. Their youngest daughter, Ruby, is a senior at Wake Forest and is earning a double major in Math and Computer Science.

Winemaker Isabelle Mort
A native of Montreal Canada, Isabelle grew up surounded by more maple trees than grapevines.
After studying winemaking and viticulture at The Canadian Food and Wine Institiute in Niagara Ontario, she spent a couple of years working in some of Europe’s most renowned regions. Her travels took her from the steep slopes of the German Mosel, to the Grand Crus of Burgundy. A specific passion in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay led her to explore New Zealand’s Central Otago, Australia’s Yarra Valley, Canada’s small but fierce Niagara Peninsula, and finally, the rolling hills of Sonoma County.
Isabelle joined the Flanagan team as an Assistant Winemaker in 2016, and became the Estate Director of Winemaking in 2018.
Isabelle’s winemaking philosophy is inspired by the idea that great wines are truly a quest to find the wine a vineyard wants to make. Eschewing dogma, Isabelle relys on both science and creativity to ensure that vineyard, in each vintage, is given the oportunity to express its’ best self.
Isabelle lives with her husband Matt (also a winemaker) and their family in Santa Rosa.
